This is a collection of excerpts from all over the Internet from the last six months
or so, that we think you may be interested in. Most articles focus on OpenVMS or Tru64, but some relate
to another one of our product areas and some are about PARSEC itself.
- Remote System Management & System Audit & Assessment
March 31, 2008 Remote System Management ("RSM") consists of two components, System Audit & Assessment, and then, Remote System Management. RSM is ideal for companies that have limited OpenVMS/Tru64 UNIX expertise & resources, are under staffed, overworked or simply have other priorities that need to be managed differently.
Once a client has shown an interest in RSM, PARSEC schedules a complimentary conference call, whereby we will review the types & number of systems you have, & what types of layered products you are using. During the conference call, we'll also gain an understanding of what types of issues are important to you, & to discuss other System Management issues for your consideration including the potential relevance & significance. From that conference call, we'll be able to determine your costs for both the System Audit & Assessment, & for the ongoing tasks associated with Remote System Management.
The System Audit & Assessment goes through a comprehensive review of the system. In doing this analysis, PARSEC will write up & make appropriate recommendations on each reviewed subject, thus notifying the client of any "red flags" that need immediate attention. The areas that are analyzed & can be customized to meet your environment are:
- Documentation & Review of System Configuration
- Start-up & Shut Down Procedures
- Operating System Review
- Layered Product Review
- Back-up
- Security
- System Monitoring & Management Review
The actual System Audit & Assessment may differ based upon the complexity & what was learned during the initial conference call.
Remote System Management is a scheduled, proactive, consistent & persistent System Management plan which allows PARSEC to manage your systems from our office in Denver, CO. Performance, Security & day-to-day operations can be easily managed using VPN or Secure Remote Access.
This service is provided by Sr. Level Consultants with an unsurpassed average of 24 years of real-world experience. The monthly RSM cost will be determined from the initial conference call & will be based upon the sum total of hours spent performing the various tasks in your RSM plan. In the course of a given month, should you want PARSEC to assume some additional responsibilities, those will be billed separately.
Here is a representation of some of the tasks that are available:
- Weekly
- Check intrusion list, device errors, batch queue status, print queue status
- Check for regular ocurring batch jobs, log files for system manager batch jobs, unexpected unboots, volume utilization, process status
